Open Enrollment Information Home

  • Kansas state law allows nonresident students to enroll in USD 327 schools if the Board's capacity determination finds there are open seats for such students. In order to determine the District's capacity to accept nonresident students, the USD 327 Board of Education has adopted Board Policy Enrollment of Nonresident Students JBCC .
  • Applications will be accepted for nonresident students from January 1st to June 15th of each year for the following school year. If the number of applications is greater than the available capacity for a grade level, district administration shall accept students based on priority enrollment status first. If capacity remains after accepting priority enrollment students, the administration will randomly select nonresident student applicants for enrollment using a confidential lottery process that will be completed on or before July 15 of each year.
  • Each student will be notified in writing of approval/disapproval by the District. Parents/Guardians must acknowledge receipt of acceptance and student placement within five (5) business days from the date of notification or the nonresident enrollment will be denied.
  • Nonresident students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade who were enrolled prior to the adoption of JBCC (June 2023), will be allowed continued enrollment as nonresident students in accordance with policy JBCC as long as they remain in good standing.

Why USD 327?

“As a parent, I’ve been really pleased with USD 327. The small class sizes mean my child gets the attention they need, and I appreciate the opportunities for career exploration as they grow. The bussing is convenient for our family, and the elementary’s strong MTSS system makes me feel confident that all students are supported. It’s clear the district truly cares about its kids.”

“As a parent, choosing USD 327 has been one of the best decisions that we could have made. There’s a true small-town feel where everyone knows and cares about all the kids, and that sense of community makes a big difference. The smaller class sizes mean my children get the attention and support they need to really grow and feel confident. I also love the wide variety of extracurricular opportunities available at all levels. There’s something for every interest, which helps kids find what they’re passionate about. It’s reassuring to know my children are truly viewed a valued part of a caring and connected school community in USD 327. “
