Remember, our county health officials can impose more strict guidelines than might be outlined above, and/or on a specific case by case basis. Reminder: when someone is sent home from school PER PROTOCOL , that means, based on guidelines from the Ellsworth County COVID protocol, if the individual presents or complains of symptoms of Covid-19, they will be sent home to do either of the following:
1. Be seen by a physician’s office to be tested negative or released back to school based on physician assessment (they will provide a letter of release with a date student/staff can return) or if positive, be isolated per county health, OR
2. They can choose to stay home x 10 days and be fever free x 72 hours without the use of fever reducing meds with significant improvement of symptoms (whichever is longer, but a minimum of 10 days). CLARIFICATION: This is NOT the same as a quarantine due to being a close contact to a positive)
The Ellsworth County Health Team meets regularly to discuss the most up to date data and information so that we may provide the best guidance to the district, in hopes of keeping everyone as healthy as we can by slowing the spread and keeping it out of school so that we may continue to be face to face as long as possible. The rule for quarantine for a close contact to a positive case is if they were within 6 feet of the positive case for more than 10 minutes, they are considered a close contact. The data and recommendations contained here may be updated or changed based on new guidance and information received by the team.
