Monday the County Health Department hosted both the Central Plains and Ellsworth Admin and Nursing teams for a meeting.  Following that meeting the 327 Health Committee met to discuss a variety of topics:

  • Steps taken to ensure the health of our students and staff
    • Daily temperatures before entrance to school
    • Medical questions
      • Flu-like symptoms?
      • Cough?
      • Shortness of breath
      • Sudden loss of taste or smell
    • Hourly hand washing
    • Use of masks
    • Social Distancing 6 ft and 10 minutes
  • Trying to take temps twice a day was discussed
  • Stable classroom groups without a lot of mixing of students with other classes

Tuesday morning the Classroom Committee met and discussed what classrooms could look like and the challenges associated with good health of the students, staff and buildings.

  • Classroom space will have to maximized for social distancing
  • Removal of non-essential furniture and furniture that can’t be cleaned easily
  • Assigned seats
  • Cleaning of classrooms
  • Learning formats
    • Face-to-Face
    • Hybrid
    • Remote or On-line
    • Combination of these

Tuesday afternoon the Transition Committee met to discuss what transitions look like for students as they travel during these times:

  • Start of school
  • Passing periods
  • School dismissal
  • Back packs and lockers
  • Restrooms
  • Lunch
  • Bus stops 

There are lots of questions and we are starting to work on finding the answers.  Please understand that this is all fluid and ever changing.  Just a short note to let you know we are working on a variety of topics for a safe school opening on September 3rd.
